Star Wars

The first Kenner Star Wars line, sold under the original Star Wars branding. Kenner signed its licence with Lucasfilm and Fox in mid-1977 and, for Christmas 1977, sold the Early Bird Certificate Package, redeemable for Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Chewbacca and R2-D2. Twelve 3¾-inch figures reached stores in 1978 and eight more followed later that year, and the mail-away rocket-firing Boba Fett completed the 21 figures in 1979. The range also included eight vehicles such as the X-Wing and TIE Fighter, the Death Star Space Station playset and a 12-inch figure series, and by the end of 1978 sales had reached 40 million units.
