Popy • Big Scale Ships

Big Scale is the name given to the large Super Sentai carrier ships and bases made by Popy and later Bandai. Battle Shark from Battle Fever J, later sold with the Battle Fever robot as “Battle Combination 2”, was the forerunner of Big Scale and established the “robot + mobile battleship” format of the series. The Big Scale series name itself appeared in 1981 with Jaguar Vulcan from Sun Vulcan, replacing the earlier DX category. Bandai continued the carriers after absorbing Popy in 1983, with ships such as DX Star Condor (Flashman, 1986) and DX Turbo Ranger (Maskman, 1987).
