Jumbo Machinder (ジャンボマシンダー)

Jumbo Machinder (ジャンボマシンダー)

Jumbo Machinder (ジャンボマシンダー) is a line of large robot and hero figures about 60 cm tall sold by Popy, Bandai’s character toy subsidiary, from May 1973, starting with Mazinger Z. The figures were made of polyethylene so they would not deform under their own weight, and Jumbo Machinder Mazinger Z won the Grand Prix at the 4th International Trade Fair Toy Concours in October 1973. Early releases included heroes and monsters as well as robots, from Mazinger Z, Getter Robo, Grendizer, Kamen Rider, Ultraman or Godzilla; from the late 1970s the line was limited to anime and tokusatsu robots. Exported to Mattel from 1976, the toys became best sellers in the United States in 1977 as Shogun Warriors; the Popy line ended in 1982 with Denshi Seijuu Dol.
