Aaahh!!! Real Monsters • Action figures

Mattel’s Aaahh!!! Real Monsters action figure line, released in 1995 and based on the Nickelodeon animated series that debuted in October 1994. The figures stand about 4 inches (10 cm) tall and each has an action feature. The line had twelve figures: Ickis, Krumm, Oblina and the Gromble, plus eight monsters that never appeared in the cartoon. These came from toy designer Mel Birnkrant’s “Pets of Frankenstein” line, which Mattel had already completed when it took the Real Monsters licence and merged the two. According to Birnkrant, the line did not sell well enough to be expanded.
