M.A.S.K • 1st Series

Manufacturer: Kenner™ • Released: 1985

The first wave of M.A.S.K., known as Series 1, was released by Kenner in 1985 and launched the toyline alongside the debut season of the animated series. It comprised eight transforming vehicles plus the large Boulder Hill playset, which doubled as the team’s secret headquarters disguised as a roadside gas station. The M.A.S.K. assortment included Rhino, Condor, Thunderhawk, Firecracker, and Gator, while the VENOM side featured Jackhammer, Piranha, and Switchblade. Each vehicle came with one or more agents and their character masks. A defining trait of this wave is that all eleven launch agents originally shipped with “short” masks, which were later redesigned into “long” masks over perceived choking risks.
