Transformers • Generation 2

Transformers: Generation 2 was Hasbro’s relaunch of the Transformers toy line in 1992, supported by a twelve-issue Marvel comic and reruns of the original cartoon with new computer-generated transitions. For the first months the toys were reissues of 1980s Generation 1 toys in new colours, some with new spring-loaded missile launchers or electronic lights and sounds. The first new molds arrived in 1993, starting with Megatron in a new tank mode, followed by new groups such as the 1:64-scale Go-Bots cars, the Cyberjets, the Laser Cycles and the Rotor Force. Generation 2 was discontinued as the first Beast Wars toys reached the shelves.
