Hot House (Micromaster)

Hot House is a redeco of Tailwind, transforming into a white and maroon A-10 Thunderbolt ground-strike plane, with a red-and-white color scheme to reflect his firefighting role. He was only available with a fire station that transforms into a tank-like battle mode.

He was released in the Japanese Zone toyline with no notable changes in 1990.

Hot House’s mold was also used to make Windrim.

Greasepit (Micromaster)

Greasepit is a redeco of Mudslinger, turning into a pickup truck with oversized “monster” tires. He was only available with a gas station base which turns into a battle station. Like most larger Micromaster toys, it came with extra ramps to connect it to other bases.
This entire set was released in Japan—without modification—as the Autobot Glasspit.

Airwave (Micromaster)

A redeco of the Air Strike Patrol member Nightflight, Airwave transforms into a Grumman F-14D Tomcat fighter jet. He was sold with an airport hangar that transforms into a missile base and can connect with other Micromaster bases via modular ramps.

This mold was released without changes in Japan as Overair. It was also used to make the Zone Autobot Nightflight.

Roughstuff (Micromaster)

Roughstuff transforms into a green and blue military truck cab of undetermined, possibly made-up model. The truck tows the military transport trailer/jet which looks like… a folded up jet, rather than a trailer transporting some kind of missile launcher. Roughstuff’s robot mode is unusual in that nearly his entire vehicle mode is on his back. He also has the distinction of being one of the few (If any!) Micromasters that can look down. The trailer turns into a weird jet thing. Roughstuff can sit in the rear area of the vehicle, behind a handle bar.

This toy was sold in Japan as the Autobot Missile Bull.

Overload (Micromaster)

Overload transforms into a blue semi cab pulling a grey and red car carrier trailer. Overall, the colour scheme is quite similar to that of the Diaclone Powered Convoy toy that was later redecoed into Generation 1 Ultra Magnus. The similarities continue, as Overload’s robot mode bears more than a passing resemblance to Optimus Prime, whilst his trailer even includes the iconic stripe down the side, albeit as a molded detail rather than a decal. The ramp/gate at the back of the trailer folds down, allowing one to transport up to two smaller Micromasters inside, and two more on the top deck. The trailer unfolds into a jet which Overload can ride in the back of.

Flattop (Micromaster)

Flattop transforms into a purple-and-gray F4 Phantom fighter jet. He has functional landing gear wheels in the rear, but has a peg in place of the front landing gear. Flattop is unusual for a Micromaster Transport in that he is not a “towing” vehicle with a large trailer accessory, but a fully-independent vehicle on his own with a fully-independent, non-towed aircraft carrier Transport.
The carrier vehicle transforms into an “interstellar jet”; Flattop can either clip into the cockpit area while standing or sit inside.
This toy was released in Japan without changes as the Autobot Skywave.

Erector (Micromaster)

Erector transforms into a yellow and gray semi cab pulling a relatively huge crane trailer. Being asymmetrical, the cab does not resemble traditional semi cabs, instead looking like the front end of a (one-piece) mobile crane, such as this Kato model.

Despite their small size, Erector and his trailer have lots of sculpted detailing; e.g., he has windshield wipers 1/8th” (3.2mm) long. For paint operations, by contrast, he’s limited to orange paint on his face, windshield, and side window (the trailer has none whatsoever). His fifth wheel hitch nominally allows the cab to turn as it tows the trailer (out of the box, it’s too tight a fit for this). The crane itself can be removed from the trailer, and connected directly to Erector’s hitch.

Erector’s transformation, as for most Micromasters, is trivial: flip his conjoined legs around, fold up his head, and you’re done. His only articulation is at his (oddly-placed) hips, and shoulders. His crane trailer transforms into a battle station, with a main gun, and a smaller double-barreled gun that Erector can man (though he can’t grasp the handles). He can man it either standing (there’s a peg for his feet), or sitting (there’s a circular indentation that fits the hitch on his calves).

Micromaster Rescue Patrol (Fixit, Red Hot, Seawatch, Stakeout)

Fixit transforms into an ambulance of undetermined model. Seawatch transforms into a blue hydrofoil. Stakeout transforms into a black Ford Taurus police car, seemingly inspired by the Detroit police department’s Ford Taurus patrol cars as depicted in the movie RoboCop. Red Hot transforms into a vaguely-futuristicy red fire engine of undetermined, possibly-made-up model.

Micromaster Battle Patrol (Big Shot, Flak, Sidetrack, Sunrunner)

Big Shot transforms into a brown and beige Denel G-6 self-propelled gun. While the front and rear wheels of the vehicle roll, the middle set are merely sculpted and do not roll (being his shoulder joints). The turret rotates 360 degrees and the cannon can pivot up and down. In robot mode, his cannon can act as a sort of tripod for additional stability.
Flak transforms into a self-propelled, artillery multiple rocket system similar to a TOS-1 Buratino. The missile battery, being his legs, can pivot up and down due to his transformation jointing, but cannot rotate.
Sidetrack transforms into a tan Roland anti-aircraft missile launcher mounted on a Marder IFV hull, as used by the German Army at that time. Though the brown turret structure is a separate piece from the tank hull, it cannot rotate due to it being part of his torso. The grey guns and missile tubes can pivot up and down, however.
Sunrunner transforms into a modified E-2C Hawkeye AEW (Airborne Early Warning) plane, with the real aircraft’s distinctive circular radar antenna dome replaced with a great hulking missile rack. His robot mode features an unusual design where the shoulders (being the engines) are topped by propellers, and by comparison with many Micromasters he has a better proportioned robot mode due to his engines/arms being separate from his fuselage/body.

Micromaster Off Road Patrol (Powertrain, Highjump, Mudslinger, Tote)

Powertrain transforms into an orange semi-trailer “sleeper cab” truck of made-up model. Highjump transforms into a gray Land Rover Defender off-road truck of undetermined model with a roof-mounted winch. Mudslinger transforms into a blue pickup truck of undetermined model with oversized “monster” tires. Tote transforms into a red minivan of undetermined model, not unlike Ironhide.

Wildfly (Pretender Monster) Monstructor arm

Wildfly’s Pretender shell is a demented, bulging-eyed, hunch-backed, fanged, winged ghoul. His inner robot transforms to a winged bird-creature and can function as either of Monstructor’s arms. His transformation scheme, though simple, is unique among the Monster Pretenders, the rest of whom share one of two basic schemes. He comes with his shell plate, a gun, and a fist for Monstructor.
Wildfly’s inner robot and combiner kibble were also used to make Yokuryu.

Slog (Pretender Monster) Monstructor upper torso

Slog’s Pretender shell is a sort of dumpy, spikey, finned monster thing. His inner robot is the largest of the Pretender Monsters and unfolds in a comparatively complex fashion to combine with them to form the shoulders and upper torso of Monstructor. His simple transformation to beast mode is similar to that of both Icepick and Scowl. He comes with his shell plate, a small rifle, a large rifle for Monstructor, and Monstructor’s head.

The inner robot mold and combiner kibble was used to make Kakuryu.

Slog is also a sad victim of Gold Plastic Syndrome, as pretty much his entire robot mode is composed of gold plastic. Good luck on transforming his legs without snapping them clean off!

Scowl (Pretender Monster) Monstructor leg

Scowl’s Pretender shell is a short, stumpy monster with a HUGE fanged mouth. His inner robot shares a simple transformation scheme with Icepick and folds up to become one of Monstructor’s legs. He comes with his shell plate, a small gun, and a Monstructor footplate.
Scowl’s inner robot and combiner kibble were also used to make Doryu.

Icepick (Pretender Monster) Monstructor leg

Icepick’s Pretender shell is an upright, hunchbacked monster seemingly composed of crystalline shards. His inner robot shares a transformation scheme with Scowl and folds up to become a leg for Monstructor. He comes with his shell plate, a small gun, and a footplate for Monstructor.
The inner robot mold and combiner kibble were also used to make Goryu.

Bristleback (Pretender Monster) Monstructor arm

Bristleback transforms into a horn-backed, quadrupedal land-shark kinda thing. His Pretender shell is a monstrous, turtle-like creature, with the inner robot’s horn/wing things sticking out. His shell backing can store his rifle and Monstructor fist as weapons. Bristleback can form either arm to Monstructor, but his nominal placement is as the right arm.

He is one of the Generation 1 toys most susceptible to Gold Plastic Syndrome…appropriate given his bio. It’s most likely a complete coincidence, of course, but still simultaneously funny and distressing. In a second, less horrible design flaw, the stickers on his robot legs are prone to being scraped off by his creature-mode legs.

Bristleback’s inner robot and combiner kibble were also used to make Gairyu.

Birdbrain (Pretender Monster) Monstructor abdomen

Birdbrain’s Pretender shell is a feathered, black bird-monster. His inner robot transforms into an alce (in 15th Century European heraldry, the wingless male counterpart to the female winged griffin). and folds up somewhat unconventionally to form the lower torso of Monstructor. His simple transformation to beast mode is similar to that of Bristleback. He comes with his shell plate, a small gun, and Monstructor’s waistplate.
Birdbrain’s inner robot and combiner kibble were also used to make Rairyu.

Countdown (Micromaster)

Countdown transforms into a fanciful moon rover. He was sold with a mobile launch base, which can transform into a command center and connect with other Micromaster bases via modular ramps.
This toy was sold without changes in Japan as Moonradar.
