The Spirit
The Spirit is an American comic created by Will Eisner, first published on June 2, 1940 in a weekly comic-book supplement of Sunday newspapers. The masked crime fighter of Central City became a landmark of the medium and was adapted into a film written and directed by Frank Miller in 2008.
Rookie police officer Denny Colt is believed dead, but rises again as the Spirit, a masked hero in a blue suit and red tie who watches over Central City from Wildwood Cemetery. Helped by Commissioner Dolan and loved by his daughter Ellen, he fights the Octopus, a criminal mastermind seeking immortality, and crosses paths with Sand Saref, his first love turned thief.
