The Matrix
The Matrix is an American science fiction franchise created by the Wachowskis, launched in 1999 with The Matrix, starring Keanu Reeves as Neo. Famous for its bullet-time effects and martial arts choreography, it continued with The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions (2003), The Animatrix, video games and The Matrix Resurrections (2021).
The hacker Thomas Anderson, known as Neo, learns from the rebel Morpheus that the world he lives in is the Matrix, a simulated reality created by machines that harvest humanity's energy. Awakened in the real world with Trinity and the crew of the Nebuchadnezzar, he discovers he may be the One prophesied to end the war, and confronts the relentless Agent Smith.
