Shinkalion
Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion is a Japanese franchise by Takara Tomy, JR East and Shogakukan about bullet trains that transform into giant robots. Launched in 2015 as a toy line, it was adapted as an anime series in 2018 (Shinkalion THE ANIMATION, 76 episodes), followed by a film in 2019, Shinkalion Z in 2021 and Shinkalion: Change the World in 2024.
Hayato Hayasugi, a young railway enthusiast, discovers that his father works for the Shinkansen Ultra Evolution Institute, a secret organisation fighting mysterious giant monsters with Shinkalions, bullet trains that transform into robots. Found compatible thanks to a simulator he mistook for a game, Hayato becomes the driver of the Shinkalion E5 Hayabusa and joins other children in Team Shinkalion.
