Sesame Street
Sesame Street is an American educational children’s television series created by Joan Ganz Cooney and Lloyd Morrisett and produced by Sesame Workshop (formerly the Children’s Television Workshop). First broadcast in November 1969, it combines live action, animation and Jim Henson’s Muppets, has run for more than 55 seasons and has many international co-productions.
On a city street in New York, human neighbours live side by side with Muppets such as Big Bird, Elmo, Cookie Monster, Ernie and Bert, Oscar the Grouch and the Count. Through sketches, songs and short films, each episode teaches young children letters, numbers, everyday skills, kindness and respect for others.
