Ring
Ring (Ringu) is a 1998 Japanese horror film directed by Hideo Nakata, adapted from Koji Suzuki’s 1991 novel and starring Nanako Matsushima and Hiroyuki Sanada. Its success launched the J-horror wave, numerous sequels and American and Korean remakes, and made Sadako Yamamura a horror icon.
A videotape is said to kill anyone who watches it exactly one week later. When her niece dies in mysterious circumstances, the television reporter Reiko Asakawa investigates, watches the cursed tape herself and, with her ex-husband Ryuji Takayama, races against time to uncover the story of Sadako Yamamura, a girl with psychic powers whose rage lives on in the tape.
