Kamui Gaiden
Kamui Gaiden is a ninja manga by Sanpei Shirato, serialised from 1965 in Weekly Shōnen Sunday. A spin-off of his saga Kamui Den, it was adapted into an anime series in 1969 and into a live-action film directed by Yoichi Sai, starring Kenichi Matsuyama, in 2009.
Born into the lowest caste of feudal Japan, Kamui became a ninja to escape poverty, then deserted his clan in search of freedom. As a runaway ninja he is hunted without respite by his former comrades, and his wanderings lead him to a fishing village where he meets Sugaru, another deserter living in hiding.
