Bandai • Godaikin
Godaikin is the line with which Bandai America sold Popy’s Chogokin and Popynica toys in North America from 1982 to 1986. The first series of 1982–1983 offered ten large Deluxe robots such as Golion, Voltes V and Combattra; the second series of 1984 added smaller Standard figures and Big Scale ships, and the third, Godaikin Forces, followed in 1985–1986. Retail prices of $40 to $80 and competition from Transformers and Gobots made it a commercial failure, and the toys are now sought after by collectors.
